FO Friday

Peerie Flooers Mittens
For any doubters, these really more stunning in real life!  Finished in time for spring, I plan on knitting the matching hat over the summer.  The yarn used, Rowan Fine Tweed, is gorgeous.  It feels rustic and coarse, but is perfect!

I did a couple of mods from the pattern.  Nothing huge, but reduced the length of the cuff by 4 rows and only did 5 full flower repeats on the mitten body.  These fit perfectly (like a glove, you could say ;) ), and feel incredibly warm.  It was also the first time I did an i-cord bind-off and accidentally used the smaller needles for it.  It looks good to me, but not perfect, but I am still more than happy with them.

My tension is pretty good, with the exception of one area - the thumb gusset.  You can see here the pale blue is being pulled into the gusset.  No matter how much I tried to fix it or loosen it off, it would pull, and appears in both mittens.  I'm hoping it will ease off with use, but really it is such a minor thing I am not bothered by it much.

  5. Absolutely gorgeous - well done you! That lovely light blue really sets off the other colours, doesn't it? I'm confident that with a bit of wear or even a light blocking everything will even out perfectly. They're soooooo pretty!
